Freestyle Wrestling
Freestyle is different from Greco-Roman because freestyle wrestling allows scoring below the waist. Like Greco-Roman, freestyle wrestling is an Olympic sport. Greco-Roman is one of the original Olympic competitive sports and was in one of nine competitions in the first modern Olympics held in 1896. Freestyle was later introduced to the Olympics competitive sports in 1920.
Your main objective in Freestyle wrestling is to PIN your opponent. To do so in Freestyle wrestling you must hold your opponent to their back for one second. You can also win the match by outscoring your opponent. When one grappler outscores the other opponent two out of three periods, that grappler wins the match.
In Freestyle wrestling you may lock your hands at any point in time during the match to help you turn your opponent’s shoulders towards the mat for a pin or to get points.
